RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Roofing takes very seriously its role in providing Continuous Professional Development Seminars. The content is always authoritative and comprehensive and presented by people who have a depth of experience in the building and construction industry.

We also provide estimation courses at the contractor's premises.

When you request information about the course, we will send you the information letter corresponding to the course you have requested.

Over the course of the two days, trainees will receive demonstrations, tuition and practical training in the basic principles of installing RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing materials and systems. Fitters who attend the course will receive a RENOLIT ALKORPLAN installers card and this will be evidence of the fitter’s attendance of the course, please note: This card verifies your participation and fundamental training; it does not attest to a specific level of field experience.

Course itinerary:

  • Day one

    • 09:00 Welcome and Course Introduction
      • Introduction to RENOLIT ALKORPLAN, and brief overview of course content.
      • Housekeeping and H&S briefing.
      • Complete fitter detail forms and installer card photos taken.
      • Introduction to RENOLIT ALKORPLAN systems and accessories.
    • 10:00 Practical Tuition: Hand Welding Techniques
      • Demonstration of fundamental hand welding techniques.
      • Extensive practical welding exercise, including capillary details and seam sealer application.
    • 11:00 Theory Tuition: Mechanically Fastened Membranes
      • Basic design theories for mechanically fastened systems, including wind loading considerations.
        Overview of fasteners and specific requirements.
      • Introduction to RENOLIT ALKORPLAN metals and peelstop bars.
      • Detailing principles.
      • Techniques for vertical work.
      • Installation of Vapour Control Layers (VCL).
      • Proper insulation installation methods.
    • 12:30 Lunch Break
    • 13:00 Practical Tuition: Mechanical Membrane Applications
      • Hands-on work with small models, focusing on RENOLIT ALKORPLAN metals and peelstop bars.
      • Practical application for internal/external corners and butt straps.
    • 15:00 Coffee Break
    • 15:30 Practical Tuition: Large Rig Mechanical Membrane Installation
      • Practical work: Working on the large floor rig, demonstration on setting out ALKORPLAN F
        membrane using information from wind loading calculations.
      • Work will include installation of field membrane using side lap fastening method, installation of
        RENOLIT ALKORPLAN metals and peelstop bars.
      • We will look at correct methods of fastener installation, membrane tensioning and how to avoid
        creasing/wrinkles.
    • 17:00 End of Day One
  • Day two
    • 09:00 Practical Tuition Continued: Large Rig Completion
      • Continue work on the large floor rig and complete field area.
      • Vertical work, using adhered and mechanical methods.
    • 10:30 Theory Tuition: Adhered Membranes
      • Overview of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN A membrane.
      • Detailed discussion of adhesives and primers.
      • VCLs and insulation considerations for adhered systems.
      • Specific detailing techniques for adhered membranes.
    • 11:00 Practical Tuition: Adhered Membrane Application
      • Demonstration on large floor rig with adhesive application with ALKORPLAN A membrane.
      • All fitters will be required to demonstrate adhesive and membrane application.
      • Hands-on practice with vertical work using both adhered and mechanically fastened methods.
    • 12:30 Lunch Break
    • 13:00 Theory Tuition: Ballasted Membranes
      • Overview of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN L/LA membranes.
      • Discussion on protection layers.
      • Design principles and detailing for ballasted systems.
      • Understanding various ballast types and timber decking applications.
      • Introduction to green roof systems using RENOLIT ALKORPLAN LA.
    • 14:30 Coffee Break
    • 14:45 Practical Work: Pipe Penetrations
      • Demonstration of both methods of pipe detailing.
      • Fitters to perform both installation methods.
    • 15:45 Theory Tuition: Ancillary Products, Recap & Q&A
      • Ancillary overview including RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Solar and RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Design.
      • Course recap and questions.
      • Fitter questionnaire.
    • 17:00 End of Day Two

This CPD is a general overview of our company and history, our range of single ply membranes and services. We also discuss the benefits of single ply and showcase lots of interesting designs that have been created with our system over the years. In this CPD we also cover the help and specification services we can offer architects as well as our customer base.

A more focused CPD covering our range of green roof products, build ups and designs, we explain the use of green roofs and their benefits. We also showcase examples of our RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Green system in use with varies green roof projects we have been involved in over the years. In this CPD we also cover the help and specification services we can offer architects as well as our customer base.

With “Single ply done differently” and “Let’s go green” explores a broad range of topics from installation and design through to aesthetics and green issues.

Moreover the participant will be given an impression of how single ply waterproofing is evolving, how membrane can provide benefits over and above simply sealing the roof surface and how designers and architects may see the functionality of the product in a totally different light.
